Meet the Bees!

There are three different types of honeybees, lets get to know them a little better.

The Worker Bee

Worker bees are responsible for pollination. When they land on plants or flowers, they collect pollen dust all over their bodies, and then use their specially adapted legs to discard the pollen, leaving it on other plants.

They also tend to the baby bees and the queen, and collect water to cool the hive on hot days!

The Drone Bee

The drone bee is a special guy!  He doesn't take care of babies, or collect pollen, or even take care of the hive.  The drone bee's main job is to mate with the queen so that she can make more babies. He is easily identified by his giant eyes that look like cool sunglasses!

The QUEEN Bee

Queen bees typically live the longest out of all of the bees. They have one of the most important jobs in the hive, they make more bees.  Sometimes when a hive gets really big a queen bee will leave with some of the other bees to find a new home.  You can spot the queen bee by her long body!
